Bogus. It was shocking to hear from someone that Facebook might charge for their service. As it turns out Snopes wisked away my fears as they always tend to do. Facebook will not be charging for their service. *Phew*

It’s the last 10% that’s the Killer

By Alex Theberge on January 25, 2010

I’m about 90% done with the new site redesign at The Valley Voice. I’ve include many new features including an animated slide show with title AND excerpt. The event calendar is now in the tab and the Polls will be updated more often. Please be certain to give me feedback, suggestions and praise so I [...]

What Now for The Hallowell Record?

By Alex Theberge on January 20, 2010

Mark Kimball had a wonderful, albeit ambitious idea: to create anĀ independentĀ radio station out of Hallowell for Hallowell. Run it entirely with volunteers and start it with a shoestring budget and lots of great intentions. In May of 2007 I was on my way back from Vermont — fresh from divorce and in need of a [...]

Christmas At the Wharf

By Alex Theberge on December 26, 2009

It was easy to find a parking spot; No more than 100 feet from the entrance of The Kennebec Wharf. One of the best bands in Maine, Pat Colwell and the Soul Sensations was in the ticket tonight — and there was George playing with them! No cover to see them and only $3.50 drinks. [...]

Facebook to release a new browser?

By Alex Theberge on August 15, 2009

It’s currently named “RockMelt”. I’m not quite certain if this new browser being created by Facebook will be worth it. But I have to admit it’s very compelling. The screen shot looks interesting enough. What I’d really like to see is a Twitter browser, now that would be worth it! You can go to www.rockmelt.com [...]

Two Dead in Rumford Shooting

By Alex Theberge on August 4, 2009

So I’m sitting here in Hattie’s Chowder House when I’m told that two men have been shot dead in their home at Rumford. The article at WGME says: Friends and roommates Victor Sheldon, 22, and Roger Day, 48, lived at 244 Pine St., where they were shot at about 9:30 p.m. Police said both men [...]
