    Paperman

Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with the Oscar®-nominated short, “Paperman.” Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Paperman” pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction.

A Silent Answer by Alec Shaojian

His name is Alec Shaojian. He is 29 years old. He’s an ex-musician, out of work, on disability. He lives in Manhattan. His body is allergic to itself. He hopes to start teaching music again as soon as possible.

Last night this man received a message. It’s one of many like it, however this was the most polite, so he’s responding to this one.

“can i request something. it’s not a poem or an artwork, i just want to see your face moving. is there any possibility that you could post a video? i don’t mean to be demanding, you don’t even have to say anything. you can just sit there, really, i just want to see that you’re actually you. i hope you don’t insult me in public but since i can’t be sure you won’t i’m writing anonymously because i don’t want to be embarrassed.”

    Julia Clukey’s comeback

It has been a feel-good comeback U.S. luger Julia Clukey — both because she’s performing well and because she’s actually able to feel good again. Clukey, 27, finished a respectable seventh at a world cup event in Winterberg, Germany on Sunday, another step forward after nearly two years of uncertainty and rehabilitation. In March 2011, doctors shaved two millimeters off the base of Clukey’s skull to help her relieve headaches and chronic bouts of fatigue caused by Arnold Chiari Syndrome, a malformation of the brain caused by a downward displacement of the cerebellar tonsils through the base of the skull. The condition also leads to dizziness, muscle weakness, nausea, vertigo, facial pain, ear-ringing, impaired coordination and, in worst-case scenarios, paralysis.

George Danby | Editorial Cartoonist – 2016 Campaign

President Obama has little time to make a difference before the 2014 and 2016 campaigns start.  Some of the talk on Monday was that the moment Obama took the oath for a second time – the campaign for 2016 begins!

A dog and her girl re-unite!

Gretchen, Kaitlyn’s best friend (the mini dachshund) was stolen from us two weeks and two days ago. Kaitlyn’s mother, and I, knew who was holding Kaitlyn’s puppy hostage (a person with obvious sociopathic signs and extreme narcissism) and asked the court’s help to get Gretchen back.

After we picked Kaitlyn and Elijah up from the bus stop this was Kaitlyn’s reaction.
